In recent years, reshoots have become a common step in the blockbuster filmmaking process. Long after principal photography has concluded, the cast and crew will reunite for a few days or weeks and film anything from slightly altered scenes that had already been shot to brand new material, but in the end, the goal is to make the movie even better than it was before. Deadpool 2 underwent its own reshoots in February, and apparently during this time a secret cameo was shot for the sequel.
Buried in its report about how recent Deadpool 2 test screenings reportedly scored high, THR noted that in addition to the six days of reshoots that happened in Vancouver last month (three days fewer than the ones done for its 2016 predecessor), there were also two hours dedicated to filming a secret cameo in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, no details were provided about who was involved with this, so we'll have to spend the next two months wracking our brains about who the subject might be, assuming that the information doesn't leak out ahead of time.
Superhero movies inserting secret cameos is nothing new, but as far as Deadpool 2 is concerned, I'm particularly intrigued as to who the sequel brought in this late in the game. The first Deadpool movie's only major cameos were Stan Lee and Rob Liefeld, the former of whom has popped up in nearly every Marvel-related movie and the latter of whom was definitely deserving of a quick appearance since he co-created Wade Wilson. I would imagine that neither of these two men returning for Deadpool 2 would warrant being kept a closely-guarded secret, so for now, let the guessing of this individual's identity commence!
Personally, I'm hoping that it's Hugh Jackman, but instead of reprising Wolverine, he's playing himself. Jackman may have bid farewell to Wolverine in Logan, but ideally that wouldn't prevent him from appearing in Deadpool 2 to poke fun at his long tenure as the clawed mutant and/or chew Wade Wilson out for all the crap both the Merc with the Mouth and Ryan Reynolds have given him over the years.
Whoever this making this secret cameo in Deadpool 2, they'll be part of a solid lineup of on-screen talent. In addition to most of the cast from the first movie returning, the sequel's new players include Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Jack Kesy as Black Tom Cassidy and The Hunt for the Wilderpeople's Julian Dennison is an undisclosed role. The most recent Deadpool 2 trailer also that revealed Terry Crews is appearing as someone who looks an awful lot like G.W. Bridge.

Yep, Aquaman Is Officially The Highest-Grossing DCEU Movie To Date

Thanks to massive love from the international box office, Aquaman is now officially top dog in the DC Extended Universe. As of this weekend, director James Wan's movie will pass $900 million worldwide. That puts it well past current DCEU leader Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which boasts $873.6 million.
Of course, we're talking overall worldwide, not just the domestic box office. Aquaman just opened here on December 21, and has picked up $238 million as of Saturday, January 5. It has been playing overseas for quite some time, picking up an impressive $650 million at foreign markets. So far, the total is $887,620,880. Again, that will pass $900M once tomorrow's weekend box office report comes in.

Ouch to Justice League. Aquaman isn't even done, and it's possible it will indeed hit $1 billion. I was skeptical when that speculation came out, but we shall see. It would obviously be the first DCEU film to hit $1 billion, and be a major breakthrough for DC/WB.
Aquaman had the lowest domestic opening weekend of the DCEU group, but that was just based on the two-day weekend; Aquaman was further boosted by previews, plus Christmas and New Year's weeks with families off from work and school. It made GREAT use of a year with no Star Wars movie as competition, and Lucasfilm has to be kicking itself for that.
Plus, Aquaman opened first overseas and had a huge showing -- especially in China -- and it rode that buzz into its U.S. release. The international box office alone was going to make Aquaman one of the top DCEU films, and now it's looking like it will at least pass both Justice League (it already has) and Man of Steel (soon) at the domestic box office.
Aquaman will probably end its domestic run somewhere in the $300M zone, as predicted after its opening. Good enough to possibly rival everyone but Wonder Woman. But now we know it is the overall champ and nothing can take that away from it -- for now.
Warner Bros. must be so proud. Aquaman was instrumental in giving the studio itsbest year at the box office yet in 2018. And now Aquaman is off to a great start, leading the way in 2019. (Not to be a Debbie Downer, but it won't last the whole year. Disney is coming.)
Shazam! doesn't look like it's going to rival Aquaman for DCEU domination, but it doesn't need to. After that, we have Wonder Woman 1984, Birds of Prey, whatever is happening with the Suicide Squad sequel, plus non-DCEU DC films like The Joker and The Batman, etc.
And then obviously we can expect Aquaman 2. James Wan said he's not contracted for that at this point, similar to Patty Jenkins not having a sequel contract right after Wonder Woman. So show James Wan the money, and get Jason Momoa back in the water, 'cause a sequel is just about inevitable. (Feel free to not bring back Pitbull.)

Does The Latest Avengers: Endgame Trailer Reveal When The Thanos Rematch Will Happen?
Yet another trailer has arrived for Avengers: Endgame, and among all the things Marvel is choosing to keep fans in the dark on, it appears there's a pretty big tease for one much-anticipated scene. The rematch with Thanos has been the moment fans have been waiting for ever since the Mad Titan destroyed half of all life in the universe, and there's some breadcrumbs leading me to believe they won't be waiting long to see it.
In fact, it looks as though once the team has a chance to reconnect, get acquainted and collect their thoughts following this massive tragedy, they're going to track down Thanos in order to exact revenge. What makes me so sure? Read through this line delivered by Thanos in the latest look at the movie.

It's a curious line, and one that may be a reference to the Avengers' failure to stop Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. The villain seems to relish in the idea that the heroes have found their way back to him, hoping to right their wrongs in defeating him. Man, how can a villain be such a dick, but also so badass at the same time?
Now, if Thanos' snap has happened, that would imply that no time travel has happened at that point of the film. After all, what would be the point in going back in time if not to prevent the events of the present? It's possible this scene takes place before the team meets up with Scott Lang and learns of the Quantum Realm, and this is a mission half founded on stopping further destruction by Thanos, but mostly founded on revenge.
It's worth mentioning at this point that there's evidence to back some of this, and it comes in the form of a footage description (via Heroic Hollywood) of Avengers: Endgame footage that hasn't been released to the public. The footage, which aired for Disney shareholders a couple months ago, contained scenes in which Captain Marvel and the Avengers (plus Nebula, minus Tony) talk of a rematch with Thanos.
A rematch so soon sounds crazy, but it follows the logic of the heroes. After all, Thor was pretty close to killing Thanos on his own, so having everyone together would give them a solid chance even with the Infinity Stones at his disposal. Its also worth mentioning that, provided Scott Lang and the Quantum Realm arent introduced into the story until later, this is really the only way for the Avengers to save the universe.
Going back to the footage description, Nebula reveals she may know where to find her father, and the crew (again, minus Tony) head off in a ship to face the Mad Titan. The description syncs up with a couple scenes shown in the latest trailer, including the one with the Avengers in the space ship with Captain Marvel and Rocket Raccoon at the wheel. According to the footage, this will be the team that heads off to face Thanos.
So if thats the team that is supposed to go and fight Thanos, what the hell is that battle scene? After all, Tony is explicitly stated in the shareholder footage not to be a part of this action, but hes seen marching up on Thanos alongside Thor and Captain America. Did Marvel pull the wool over the eyes of its own investors and show fake footage?
That doesnt seem like a wise move to fool investors, so its more likely theres something screwy with this scene shown to the public. Perhaps Tony isnt really alongside Thor and Cap in this confrontation with Thanos, or there are three different heroes entirely? That doesnt seem likely given Caps shield tightening scene seems to match up with the back drop of this battle, so the odds of this scene being completely fabricated are unlikely.
Its a tough pill to swallow, especially considering what a great homage it is to see Cap, Iron Man, and Thor fight Thanos together. Who better to take on the villain than than these founding Avengers members? Itd be a cool moment to see on screen for sure, but were all well aware the Russos arent above creating epic footage strictly for trailers and nothing else.
Its also possible that while Thanos speech about failure comes early in the movie, the actual fight footage comes from a showdown later on in the film. After all, Nebula referred to the place Thanos is at as the garden. Weve seen the location in footage before, and it looks like a paradise and definitely not that smoldering pile of metal and ash hes chilling out in when the heroes walk up on him.
Hey, maybe the garden has always looked like shit and hes just using the Reality Stone to help him avoid the realization that his master plan didnt ultimately save humanity? After all, it would suck to live a life that strictly revolved around mass genocide to save the planet only to learn in the end it wasnt the answer after all. Yeesh, youd almost have to feel bad for the guy for having to live with that.
So assuming we're right and the Avengers do take on Thanos fairly early on into the film, where do they go from there? Do they defeat the Mad Titan and it changes nothing? Do they fail and are forced to live with another failure? Tony's gray hair in some scenes is likely another sign we're going to see a time jump, so regardless of how things shake out with Thanos, it appears this is a problem that can't be solved through fists alone.
Avengers: Endgame is headed to theaters in late April, and tickets are already being sold at incredible rates.
